Art is when you hear a knocking from your soul — and you answer. ~Terri Guillemets
Art is a matter of personal taste.
Occasionally, a masterpiece is in our hands — like this wooden panel that was taken from the century old home of my grandparents, before it was torn down to build a new house. My father has stored 3 other similar pieces, which I was told, which used to hang on the top of their doors. These were handmade by the Chinese, who were the best wood carvers in Manila at that time, or so my father narrated when I asked about the panels.
The best form of art for me is the one whose story is personally known to me. I plan to hang it in my new home to bring a piece of my past and a sense of family amidst me all the time.
Thanks to this challenge — it knocked on my soul.
I had no choice but to answer.

Love that you kept it – how special!!
Yes, I did. I am actually having some problems with it … my new home is so limited that I don’t have wide enough space to hang it. Installing it vertically is not visually appealing. Salamat (that’s Thanks in Filipino) for the comment.

What a lovely story of a special piece of history. Beautiful artwork!
Salamat (Thanks in Filipino) for the comment. It is a special piece — one of four. The other 2 I have given to my sister, who has a much bigger place than mine. Hopefully, she will also share the sentiment. Happy weekend and do visit my site again.

Such a beautiful carving, with a beautiful history. Hope you find somewhere to hang it and enjoy it.
Am working on it. Just might decide to make it a free standing panel. Will keep everyone posted as to what will happen next. Salamat (that’s thanks in Filipino) for the comment.
